"I was walking, enjoying being around other students and the vibrancy of the place, and I said to myself, if it doesn't work out in the NBA, I could see coming back someday to be the head coach here. This is my dream job." |

Madeleine May Kunin '56, '85LLD is a woman of many “firsts”. She was the first woman elected to a legislative position in Vermont, the first woman to be appointed Chairwoman of the Vermont Appropriations Committee, the first female governor of Vermont, and the first woman in United States history to be elected governor three times. . |

Laura Powers '07 understands the concept of community service. She is working with Teach for America, a national corps of recent college graduates and professionals of all academic majors and career interests who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and become leaders in the effort to expand educational opportunity. |

Rochelle Rice ’83 has always been interested in movement. She studied dance while at UMass Amherst and then went on to work in the health and exercise field.... In 1990, Rice founded her business In Fitness & In Health, which is dedicated to sharing the Plus-Size Exercise Technique with plus-size women and fitness professionals. |

Avery Sharpe '76 has always been surrounded by music. As a young boy growing up in Valdosta, Georgia, his mother instructed him on his first instrument, the piano. “My mother played piano in the church and gave lessons to all eight of her children,” he recalled. “She was my first musical influence.” |
