UMass on the Road
Alumni Association Executive Director Anna Symington '79, 83G

For many of you that followed our alumni and staff in New Orleans last month, I'm sure you would agree that they did UMass proud. I can't thank all the volunteers enough for their dedication, time, and hard work.

We have received so much great feedback and praise for making this happen and I would be remiss if I didn't recognize and salute our staff who helped to make this effort a reality—Kevin Fleming and Elena Lamontagne. To borrow a phrase from one of the volunteers, “They are true ambassadors of UMass Amherst.”

We don't know who the patron was that covered the dinner tab for our alumni group's dinner during their last evening in New Orleans, but we are sincerely touched by this magnanimous gesture.

We are certainly planning to do more of same as many alumni have already asked about future plans to repeat these efforts, and I urge all our alumni to consider lending a hand within their local communities as we set our sights on Community Service during the month of April. We coordinate this effort every year through our regional Alumni Clubs and I am challenging you to help increase this year's effort.  Contact your local Club chapter, or contact our office to get involved or spearhead an idea. Show your UMass Amherst pride in this national community service effort.

We are trekking to California this month as well as to Florida to meet more of our alumni and engage more volunteers, bringing UMass Amherst on the road. We look forward to connecting with you!

Regards,
