Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Make Your Plans Now!
The Minuteman Marching Band was selected from hundreds of nationwide applicants to be one of eleven marching bands in the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 28, 2013.
The "Power and Class of New England" has traveled many times to make public appearances, including both of President Ronald Reagan’s Inaugurations and President George W. Bush’s first presidential Inauguration, but this is the first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance for the band.
Make your plans now to join the Pre-Macy's Parade Wednesday Warm-up on November 27 to show your pride for the Power and Class of New England!
On Thursday, November 28, wear your maroon - and join UMass friends to view the parade at the preferred UMass viewing location: 6th Ave between 53 and 54th streets, in front of the Pearson Building! It'll be crowded, so try to arrive early for a good spot.
The parade steps off from Central Park West at 9 a.m., proceeds down Sixth Avenue to Macy’s at Herald Square to Macy's at Herald Square and concludes at noon.
As they march, the band will play “Fight Mass,” “God Bless America,” and “Roll Down the Field.” When they arrive at the red star in front of Macy’s Herald Square at precisely 11:24 a.m., the band will have 75 seconds to pause in front of the NBC cameras and perform to the UMass Hoop Band classic “Big Noise From Winnetka.”
